Ignorant people spread lies about the brain and how it works.

These lies and misconceptions are so widespread they now sound like truth.

The brain is a complex but critical organ. That’s why we want to know more, even if we sometimes fall for these lies.

But, by seeking accurate scientific information, we can make better decisions about our cognitive abilities, learning strategies, and overall brain health.

Here are seven widely accepted misconceptions about the brain and why they’re wrong.

Alcohol kills brain cells

Drinking alcohol is bad for health. It’s been linked as the cause of so many chronic diseases.

Earlier brain studies found that it disrupts communication pathways and shrink certain parts of the brain.

This gave rise to the notion that drinking alcohol leads to the death of brain cells.

Contrary to this belief, research shows that too much alcohol in the body can result in brain damage. However, it’s not because alcohol directly kills brain cells.
