The biggest wins aren’t what you think

And here’s why that matters

Many of us have a skewed idea of what it means to win or what truly counts as a win. We live in a world where material things are often given the most value. So, people tend to focus on what they can get.

Making more money is seen as a big success. Getting accepted into a top university like Harvard is considered a huge achievement. Buying a new house or car is also thought of as a big win

But what we often fail to realize is that many things that count as wins, and are just as important—or even more important—don’t involve material things at all.

What counts as a win isn’t always what we think it is. It can vary a lot depending on the situation you’re in, and often have little or nothing to do with external achievements or recognition.

The weight of a win depends on the situation

Imagine you’ve been stuck in bed for days or weeks, unable to eat, walk, or do the things you love. In that situation, all you want is to feel like yourself again. The last thing you’re thinking about is getting a new client for your business, how many views your latest YouTube video got, or even winning a gold medal at the Olympics.
