We all want to meet and fall in love with the “right” person and maybe, settle down with them.

However, when we eventually do, more than seventy percent of those relationships fail just a year later.

What’s the problem?

How do two people go from loving each other to the point where they start fighting, arguing, and no longer want to have anything to do with each other?

Sociologist Michael Rosenfeld was interested in finding the answer to this question. In 2009, he began a study that tracked thousands of people to discover what happens to relationships over time.

It turns out people make really basic mistakes that, over time, put their relationships in bad shape.

Complaining about your partner’s flaws and shortcomings

A major factor that can destroy a relationship is finding fault.

Two people can love each other, but if one starts keeping track of the other’s mistakes and flaws, it’s only a matter of time before they fall apart.
