Most genuine readers on Medium don't know they can comment, highlight or clap to an article that resonated with them. This is why it bothers me that Medium's monetization model is still based on an idea that is mostly well-known by writers rather than the readers.

For example, I have had several of my readers send me long email and even buy me a coffee for my work and then when I go to the article they so enjoyed, I don't see their comments there.

For whatever it's worth, I think Medium should return to using read time as the model to pay writers. This constant tweaking to how writers are paid is frustrating because everyday it's all cents.
