We’ve been sold a seductive tale: wake up at 5 a.m., no phone, meditate, drink green tea with yak butter, journal, exercise, cold plunge and boom! You’re on the fast track to greatness.

Self-help and productivity gurus have successfully sold us the idea that a perfect, well-choreographed morning routine is the secret to success.

As one popular podcaster said, “a correctly scripted series of steps in the first 60 to 90 minutes of your day dictates whether you’ll have an optimal day.”

Dr. Christine Carter, a sociologist and happiness expert, talks about the power of morning routines, stating, “How you start your day sets the tone for the rest of it. A morning routine can be a powerful tool for success and well-being.”

Because of this obsession, many people now erect complicated wellness and productivity hacks they need to follow each morning to make the most of their day.

But are morning routines what they’re said to be?

Do you need a “perfect” series of well selected early morning activities to be productive and successful?

Why You Don’t Need Morning Routine
