I was born into a world of impossibilities—circumstances so harsh that no one believed they would ever change. Pain became a familiar companion, suffering so entrenched in daily life that it was accepted as part of God’s plan.

Growing up, I realized that my survival depended on how well I could navigate these hardships. I couldn’t afford to live beneath the weight of life’s crushing blows, so I learned to rise above them.

Today, things no longer get to me the way they seem to crush others. I don’t get as rattled by life’s ups and downs like I used to. My strength doesn’t come from fortune or luck; it comes from preparation. For as much as I pray for success, I also meticulously prepare for failure.

I have learned that hoping for the best must be coupled with readiness for the worst. I live with the awareness that suffering and setbacks will always be a part of the journey, and I make sure I’m never caught off guard.

One of the most profound realities I have come to accept is death. I think about my own death often, not with fear but with a sense of peace. I’ve made peace with the fact that one day, I won’t be here.
