Habits, Energy, and Goals
Understanding the link between them is crucial to success.
Most people don’t see the connection between their habits, energy, and what they accomplish daily, weekly, or yearly.
Achieving a goal depends on building specific habits to support it. For example, you can’t be fit if you don’t develop healthy lifestyle habits. And a student needs better study habits if they want to make top grades.
Whether your goal is a $10k/month income, building a Jason Statham-type physique, or graduating top of your class, it all comes down to creating the habits that support your goals.
However, building good habits takes work.
You can’t start, consistently practice, and maintain a habit over time if it drains too much energy from you, eats up your time, and you don’t feel motivated to do it.
Habits As Obstacles
People rarely include habits on their lists of reasons why they fall short of achieving their goals.
They attribute their failure to external factors like a lack of time or resources. They even blame unexpected circumstances beyond their control.
But habits play a major role in why many people either succeed or fail to be productive or achieve their goals.
