Some of the choices people make daily seem irrelevant, even negligible, in the short term. Take smoking for example.

Smoking a single cigarette today doesn’t really mean much. Its impact on your health, especially your liver, might go unnoticed.

However, each stick you smoke adds a layer of damage to the liver. As the years pass, the damage builds up and over a period of 10–30 years, the liver can become unrecognizable, and ultimately poses a high risk of death.

Like smoking, there are many activities or lifestyle people engage in that don’t seem harmful in the short-term but pose significant risks to health in the future.
