Human beings have a strong natural desire to chase things in life. We chase love, career, success, etc.

We’re always going after different goals because we believe achieving them make us happy.

However, chasing the wrong goals can be counter-productive because they can cause a lot of discontent and dissatisfaction.

Here are 5 things most people chase after, thinking it’ll make their lives better but doesn’t.

External Approval and Validation

To be truly happiness, one thing you must try to avoid at all cost is tying your happiness on the opinions and validation of other people.

When you define yourself based on how others see — whether they’re your parents, relatives, spouse, boss, or friends — you lose control and start living for others.

You’ll make life-changing decisions based on what others think is best for you instead of what you truly want. Everything you do will be dictated by the need to make others happy, to be accepted by them, and to earn their love and respect you.

You might think you have your own desires and goals but there are not really yours…
