What could be worse than waking up in a puddle, not from a spilled glass of water or an overexcited pet, but from a problem you’ve struggled with since you were a child—or that has suddenly come back?

For many adults, this scenario is a harsh reality.

Bedwetting, or nocturnal enuresis is a medical condition that usually affects children, but surprisingly, it also affects a significant number of adults around the world.

Globally, about 2% of adults suffer from bedwetting. In the U.S alone, about 26 million American adults are currently affected by it, according to the Simon Foundation for Continence.

Out of those affected, about 1-2% experience bedwetting either as a problem they’ve had since childhood or as a new issue that developed in adulthood.

However, because of the stigma around bedwetting, many people with this condition keep it a secret, living with the daily anxiety of their condition being discovered.

But let’s be clear: bedwetting isn’t just about wet sheets. It’s a condition that can deeply impact a person’s emotional well-being, relationships, and overall quality of life.
