Respect is becoming an increasingly rare thing in everyday conversations and interactions.

Most people give little thought to how they interact with those around them. They don’t care about how deep their words cut into the heart of others. They interrupt endlessly during conversations and make remarks that belittle others.

When you interact with respect, the other person should feel valued and appreciated They should feel like they’re being acknowledged as a fellow human beings.

In relationships where partners treat each other with respect, there’s less room for friction. As Miguel Angel Ruiz said, “Respect is one of the greatest expressions of love.”

Respect is a necessary component of a productive workplace. Where bosses promote a culture of respect, it encourages teamwork and boosts productivity and efficiency.

The reason for this is that our brain is wired to thrive on respect. Both respectful and disrespectful behaviors impact your brain chemistry and therefore your behaviors and performance.
