Do you know yourself?

Most people will say they do. But the reality of knowing yourself is measured by how much that knowledge reflects in the way you live navigate your life.

Knowing yourself means to have a sense of self, being aware of your own values, flaws, and strengths, and how those things shape your thoughts and actions.

That’s why Aristotle rightly said, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”

When you know yourself, you can confidently steer your life in any direction you choose. However, when you don’t know yourself, you’ll most likely exhibit the following behaviors:

You Feel Lost And Have No Sense of Direction in Life

If you find yourself in a city where you have no clue where to go, what to do, and who to meet, what would happen to you?

You might not be in any danger. However, you’re likely to feel unsettled, uncertain, and lost. And you won’t enjoy your time there unless you learn more about the place.

It’s the same with life.

None of us came into this world with a manual that shows us the best way to navigate life.

What we do is learn by harnessing our experiences to make sense of our lives. Our experiences shape our identity, values, interests, fears, dreams, strengths, and weaknesses.

This knowledge helps you figure out what you want to do with your life and gives us a sense of direction.

But when you don’t know who you are, when you have no sense of identity, you’ll often feel like a traveler without a compass. You’ll be groping, unsure of what to do or the next step to take.

You have no idea which direction to lead yourself. You’ll watch every aspect of your life spiraling out of control. Life is without meaning.

What to do about it

You must practice self-acceptance if you want to stop feeling lost and find your way.
