If you want to build a successful business, your value isn’t in the title you attach to your name. Being addressed as a CEO, manager, or team leader can only massage your ego. Your real worth is in being able to lead and translate your vision into reality.

Having said that, there are critical questions you must answer if you want to know whether you have what it takes to lead better. Authors Adam Bryant and Kevin Sharer call it The CEO Test.

In their book, they presented what’s possibly the best way the test your potential to become a successful CEO.

1. Can you develop a simple plan for your strategy?

No matter what context you lead, a CEO needs a strategy.

And when it comes to explaining your strategy, one of the essential qualities you need is the ability to break down complex issues and make them understandable.

If you can’t crystallize issues, it’s going to be difficult to come up with a clear and galvanizing plan to get your people moving in the same direction.
