Depression is a persistent mental health issue that can disrupt your everyday life. The overwhelming feelings of sadness and emptiness make it challenging to accomplish tasks and stay motivated.

When it hits, depression can linger for weeks, months, or even longer, affecting your ability to function and enjoy life. As a result, finding a solution has been a concern.

Despite the significant amount of research and investment in finding a universal cure, most treatments are still largely ineffective.

For example, antidepressants are still largely unreliable.

In his book, “The Depression Cure,” Dr. Stephen Ilardi stated that anti-depressants have about a 50% success rate.

He further pointed out that out of the people who find relief, half of them end up relapsing, taking the real recovery rate to just 25%.

This doesn’t even consider the potential side effects, such as emotional blunting, weight gain, and sexual dysfunction.

When antidepressants don’t work, depression can become even more devastating. However, there are alternative treatment options that researchers have been exploring, especially for those with mild to moderate symptoms.
