Type 2 Diabetes
You can have diabetes and not even know it. About 8.5 million of the roughly 29 million cases of diabetes are often undiagnosed, according to the American Diabetes Association.
Diabetes is a health condition that occurs when there's an abnormally high sugar level (glucose) in your body.
Glucose is the main source of energy in the body. The pancreas produces the hormone (insulin) that converts glucose from the food you eat into energy the body uses.
When the body no longer produces enough insulin or becomes insulin-resistant, glucose cannot reach the cells to be used as energy. This causes diabetes.
