Daniel Kahneman, Nobel Prize winner and author of Thinking, Fast and Slow, gave a TED talk where he explained that happiness is being happy in your life…in the moment.

Many of us have been taught to wait for happiness. We’ve been led to believe that happiness is a final destination that we arrive at when we tick a series of boxes, like fancy cars, a great job, or an Ivy League degree.

The reality, however, is that happiness is not a destination. It’s a state of mind. But the question is what can you do to be happy in the moment?

The Art of Savoring

It can be a challenge to focus on the good side of your life when you’re immersed in an influx of information heavily centered on negative events.

Even though we have three times as many positive experiences as negative ones, research has revealed that we often focus on and over-emphasize our negative experiences.

It’s the bad things or events that catch our attention, remain in our minds, and, in many cases, affect our judgments.
