Let’s be honest, you don’t achieve much if you’re not disciplined.

Self-discipline is doing what you need to do, whether you want to do it or not. It’s a key element in any success equation.

As a student, business owner, athlete — whatever — you need to be disciplined to achieve your goals.

But self-discipline is a problem for the most of people. Part of the reason for this is because they think discipline depends on personality. So you either have it or you don’t.

But that’s not true. Discipline is more about habit. And here are such habits that make it harder to maintain self- discipline.

You’re overstretching your willpower

One of the reasons you’re struggling with self-discipline and staying focused on your goals is that you’re relying too much on willpower.

When you use willpower, you’re essentially being conscious of your behaviors and choices. Often, this necessitates a great deal of energy to exercise self-control over things that shift your focus away from your goals.
