11 Indisputable Things That Show Maturity, Regardless of Age
I’ll just go straight to the point and share with you 11 things that show maturity in you or anyone else, regardless of their age.
You like what you like, unapologetically.
One of the first things that shows maturity is a person’s confidence in making their own decisions about what they think is cool or cutting-edge without anyone’s go-ahead.
Much of what’s considered “cool” these days is only so because some tastemakers and influencers declare it.
But I think of maturity as being able to independently choose what cool means for you, even if it doesn’t fit into mainstream or pop culture. It’s about liking what you like and not giving a f*ck about it.
If I shared my Boomplay playlists with you, you probably wouldn’t be impressed. Very little of the music I regularly listen to and vibe to would be considered cool by some people’s standards. And that’s fine with me. I like what I like.
It’s the same with books, clothing, gadgets, and other aspects of our lives.
Sometimes, interests, preferences, or tastes can intersect. However, maturity is ultimately about recognizing that you don’t owe anyone an apology for your preferences in life.
Hold yourself accountable for your choices and actions.
Every human being has the free will to choose what they do with their life.
What no one has the right to do is shift the blame for the outcomes or consequences of those hoices to others.
You may be entitled to your tastes and preferences, but maturity is not just knowing that every choice creates a definite outcome but also holding yourself accountable for whatever happens, whether it’s good or bad.
If you take off accountability, people are like chefs who blame the ingredients for a poorly prepared dish without acknowledging that they control the recipe and cooking process.
Keep to your commitments.
maturity involves the ability to make a promise to yourself and others and then having the discipline and integrity to keep it.
