Sleep is one of the most important elements of human life. We can go days without food, even longer without shelter, but if we don’t sleep, things can quickly fall apart.

Yet, despite how essential sleep is, millions struggle with it.

If you’re tossing and turning every night, feeling groggy each morning, or relying on caffeine to get through the day, it could be due to certain bedtime habits you didn’t even know you have that are harming your sleep.

These aren’t the usual “don’t drink caffeine before bed” or “limit screen time” tips you see in every other article. They’re behaviors people rarely associate with sleep issues, but could be the very reason you’re struggling.

Taking “Short” Naps Right Before Bed

You might think that taking a quick 20-minute nap on the couch before bed is no big deal. After all, it’s just a short nap, and it might even help you feel more ready for sleep, right?

You’re wrong!

Even a brief nap too close to bedtime can disrupt your natural sleep cycle.
